Zamosc UNESCO World Heritage: UNESCO city of Katowice Poland

Zamosc

One always present in the city tourist routes ranging from Lublin to Krakow Zamosc.
Its heritage is reborn only in Poland has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.


was founded by Jan Zamoyski, chancellor of Poland and the supreme head of the army. With its great liberal arts education, dreamed of creating a city that would meet the ideals and at the same time to serve as a fortress.
The construction began in 1580 e nel progetto iniziale era previsto un palazzo, una chiesa, un’università e vari edifici pubblici. Dovuto anche alla sua collocazione tra Lublino e Cracovia fu meta di commercio procedenti da vari punti d’Europa come Italia, Armenia, Grecia etc.. e moltissimi ebrei decisero di stabilirsi proprio in questa città.
Nel 1648 si costruisce la prima fortezza per difesa dagli attacchi dei cosacchi e qualche anno dopo (1656) fu usata contro gli attacchi degli svedesi e permetterà che Zamosc sia una delle tre città polacche a non esser mai stata occupata dalla Svezia (insieme a Danzica e Czestochowa).
Durante le divisioni dei territori passerà first in Austrian hands, then even more fortified Russian town.

Attractions
Rynek Wielki
A square is a Renaissance style with porches and the Town Council. Most of the houses were built during the Renaissance but were reformed in 1820.


Zamosc Museum
Ormianska Ulica, 30.
Hours: 10 am to 16 pm, closed Mondays.
Between two houses of the square is very nice Zamosc is a museum. Archaeological remains are found here and a series of portraits of the Zamoyski family.

Cathedral
the side of the Rynek Wielki is the Cathedral, built between 1587 and 1628 stand out in its interior decoration renaissance baroque altar.

Zamoyski Palace
An ancient palace in 1830 was turned into a military hospital, which unfortunately is closed to tourists.

Old Port of Lublin
Gate built in 1588 with bricks.

Sinangoga
Rynek Solny
of 1610 is currently used as a library. Remains of original paintings on the walls of time.
