There are trains from KL to Penang, Singapore, Kota Bahuru, Bangkok. The prices are very cheap compared Italy and many trains are nocturnal, with the possibility to book a bed in the first or second class.
The tickets can be bought at stations maybe one day in advance or even from the website of the Malaysian railways
BUS
In all the cities in the bus stations can be assessed myriad of offerings. In Kuala Lumpur, most of the sections is Pudoraya Station. Many people moving bus because it goes everywhere but at night I prefer to sleep in the beds of trains
