Numerous pictures show that Konigsberg until 1945 (that was the name under German rule) was one of the most fascinating cities in Europe.

Ultimamente si sta discutendo sull’emarginazione da parte della Russia verso Kalingrado (poche volte incluso nelle mappe) e la creazione di un quarto stato baltico ma i processi sono molto difficili dato che la Russia non cederà mai un territorio con la miniera più grande al mondo di ambra e una zona militare sul mar baltico.

Più a nord vicino l’università si trova il famoso Museo Bunker (entrata 40 RUB) dove l’ultimo comandante tedesco, Otto van Lasch, firmò l’arresa contro i sovietici.
Il museo mondiale dell’oceano (50 RUB entrata) presenta interessanti esposizioni scientifiche e oggetti marini.

Nel 1648 si costruisce la prima fortezza per difesa dagli attacchi dei cosacchi e qualche anno dopo (1656) fu usata contro gli attacchi degli svedesi e permetterà che Zamosc sia una delle tre città polacche a non esser mai stata occupata dalla Svezia (insieme a Danzica e Czestochowa).
